I specialise in helping women make truly informed decisions
Parents-to-be face many important decisions around maternity care and birth that extend beyond questions of home versus hospital births, or epidural versus no epidural.
My goal is to get Mum and Baby off to the best possible start together in life.
As your doula I will fit into your world by identifying and understanding your needs, then helping you remain calm, comfortable and confident throughout the birth.
The only right way to give birth is YOUR WAY. I’ve supported all sorts of births – at home and in hospital, including medicated and un-medicated vaginal births, scheduled c-sections, VBACS – Vaginal Birth After Caesareans and HBACS Home Birth After Caesarean.
“Asking your husband to be your sole guide through labor is like asking him to lead the way on a climb of Mt Everest. He may be smart and trustworthy, you may love him, but in the Himalayas you’d both be a lot better off with a Sherpa!”
We feel certain that it’s because of her help that we were able to achieve our ideal birth the second time around. Hiring Laura was the best money we’ve ever spent; our marriage and our family of four is stronger as a result.Kimberly
Postnatally, I am there for you in whatever capacity you wish. I can help get breastfeeding established and help mum heal and recover from the birth using natural remedies including belly wrapping, salt baths, healing foods and teas.
I am recognised doula with Doula UK: https://doula.org.uk/doula/laura-jones/
I am also a member of AIMS (The Association for Improvements in Maternity Services).
I have a strong network of trusted birth workers in my local area.
Please note I only doula in central and south east London.
She gave us both such a great sense of confidence and trust!Meghan
How to work with me…
If you’re thinking about hiring me as your Doula please use the contact form to get in touch, I need to know your due date, where you live and a little bit of information about your current plans for this birth.
If I think I can help we would have an initial telephone conversation and if we both feel like this could be the start to a beautiful relationship we’d schedule a no obligation face to face meeting ideally with any other loved ones planning to support you at your birth.
At this point, if you decide you like and trust me you would book me by signing my very basic birth agreement and pay a non refundable deposit. The remaining fee is due at the 38th week.
People usually book me half way through their pregnancy but I am also used too being taken on last minute and working intensely with you over a couple of weeks to get you ‘birth ready’
I call this doula-ing from a distance.
If you don’t want a doula at your birth but find yourself in a situation where some unbiased information would be useful, I offer consultations. This usually takes place face-to-face but sometimes it’s an extended chat on the telephone, Skype or Facetime.
By deeply listening to your story I can get a clear picture of your situation and will offer my perspective and relevant contacts to help you find your path.
Please use the contact form, briefly outlining your situation and let me know when and how is the best to reach you.
Fee per consultation: £50

Laura is very calm, yet assertive with the midwives when putting my wishes forward. After my first birth she helped me overcome my breastfeeding issues, without her I would have given up. She is amazing, very very caring.Kirsten
